Jim is a trailblazing figure in the field of fire protection engineering, renowned for his expertise in safeguarding hospitality and gaming establishments. As the founder of TERPconsulting, Jim identified a niche in the marketplace and established a boutique firm dedicated to fire protection and life safety. Over the course of his career spanning several decades, Jim has left an indelible mark on the industry, working on prestigious hospitality projects across the globe.

Throughout his career, Jim has collaborated with an impressive roster of hospitality giants, including MGM Resorts International, Caesars Entertainment, Wynn Resorts, Circa Resort & Casino, Palms Resort & Casino, The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, and City of Dreams casino resort. His work has elevated the standards of fire protection and life safety within these establishments and contributed to the safety and well-being of countless individuals who frequent these world-class destinations.

Before establishing TERPconsulting in 2010, Jim worked at JBA Consulting Engineers (now NV5 Consulting Engineers) as Director of Domestic Business Development and Director of Fire Protection Engineering. Prior to his position at JBA, Jim was the head of the Las Vegas office of Schirmer Engineering Corporation/AON.

Jim’s professional accolades are a testament to his unwavering commitment to his craft. He is a registered professional fire protection engineer in an impressive 44 states and the District of Columbia, reflecting his extensive reach and impact. Appointed by the Clark County Fire Department in 2024, Jim is currently serving a four-year term on the Clark County Board of Fire Code Appeals. Additionally, Jim is a principal committee member of NFPA 909 — Code for the Protection of Cultural Resource Properties – Museums, Libraries, and Places of Worship and NFPA 914 — Code for the Protection of Historic Structures. In 2013, he achieved the prestigious honor of being admitted as a Fellow in the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE).
