Jeff offers over three decades of fire protection engineering experience to TERPconsulting’s Southern California office. Jeff spent his 30-year career in the Fire Prevention Bureau of the Glendale Fire Department (GFPB) prior to joining TERPconsulting in 2021. While at GFPB, he served in various roles, including Fire Marshal, Fire Protection Engineer II, Engineering Project Specialist, and Hazardous Materials Specialist, and oversaw the city’s fire code adoption and amendment process.
For much of Jeff’s fire service career, he was responsible for reviewing and approving plans for all types of fire and life safety systems including automatic fire sprinkler systems, standpipe systems, fire pumps, fire alarm systems, smoke control systems, and special extinguishing systems (i.e., wet/dry chemical and clean agent). Jeff’s experience also includes the inspection and acceptance of the associated fire/life safety systems prior to building occupancy.
In addition, Jeff’s responsibilities at the Glendale Fire Prevention Bureau included the technical review and approval of all requests for alternative means and methods, temporary occupancy, and engineering judgments associated with interim occupancy or code equivalency. The range of projects he reviewed included high-rise buildings, multi-family, mixed-use buildings, institutional and healthcare facilities, schools, and large assemblies.
A registered professional fire protection engineer in California, Jeff is a member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE), currently serving as Past President of the Southern California Chapter. Additionally, he has been co-chair of the Southern California Fire Prevention Officers Fire Service Education Committee since 2015.
