She specializes in ensuring regulatory compliance while managing complex projects from inception to completion, providing expert guidance on building and fire codes, risk assessments, and the design of life safety systems.
Kate’s portfolio includes cultural institutions, airports, covered mall buildings, corporate headquarters, and luxury apartments. She is skilled in developing equivalencies and alternate method analyses that balance code compliance with project goals, ensuring designs remain on schedule and within budget. Kate’s expertise extends to advising clients, architects, and building owners on variances, alternative compliance methods, and tailored fire protection strategies. She regularly interfaces with regulatory authorities, building officials, and fire marshals to obtain approvals and address code-related inquiries and challenges.
Before joining TERPconsulting, Kate was a Senior Project Consultant at Code Consultants Inc. (CCI), where she played a pivotal role in fire protection engineering and code compliance in the execution of high-profile projects. Her work included preparing comprehensive code compliance reports, fire protection plans, and engineering analyses with actionable recommendations.
Kate is a licensed fire protection engineer in Missouri. She serves on the Society of Fire Protection Engineers’ CPQ-PE Exam Development Committee and is a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). She earned her Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park.
