Lana, a fire protection consultant based in New York City, boasts a rich portfolio of international fire protection projects. Her expertise spans diverse locations, including providing pivotal fire and smoke modeling services for prominent ventures such as the NY Korea Center in NYC and the Marjan Offshore Platform in the Arabian Gulf.
Highlights of Lana’s experience in code consulting include preparing fire protection reports and general fire/life safety services for UMusic Resort Hotel in Glendale, Arizona, the Formula 1 City Circuit in Las Vegas, and Welpman Way residential complex in Henderson, Nevada. Lana’s other areas of expertise include smoke management, pressurization analysis, architectural plan review, fire risk assessment, and determining code-compliant fire protection approaches for various occupancies.
Before joining TERPconsulting in 2021, Lana was a graduate fire engineer at Arup in Dubai. During her tenure at Arup, she was part of the firm’s code development team which worked on a new unified building code for Dubai in line with international best practices. As part of Arup’s Fire & Life Safety (FLS) team, Lana was the project engineer for Expo 2020 projects, specifically the Japan and Saudi Arabia pavilions.
Lana is a member of SFPE’s Research, Tools, and Methods (RTM) Committee, serving on two RTM sub-committees: Research & Innovation (SCRI) and Subcommittee for Standards Oversight. Additionally, she is a member of the Society of Engineers UAE (SoE) and an associate of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE). Lana has a master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from Scotland’s Heriot-Watt University.
