02 Mar TERPconsulting EXPANDS EAST COAST PRESENCE WITH NEW PHILADELPHIA OFFICE LED BY INDUSTRY VETERAN ROGER RUDY, PE
TERPconsulting is pleased to announce its continued expansion on the East Coast with the opening of a Philadelphia office, strengthening the firm’s ability to deliver fire protection engineering and life safety services across the Philadelphia region and the broader Mid-Atlantic.
Fire protection engineering veteran Roger Rudy, PE, has joined TERPconsulting as regional director and senior fire protection engineer to lead the firm’s Philadelphia operations.
With three decades of industry experience, Roger brings a well-rounded background spanning suppression systems, smoke control, fire alarm design, code consulting, and HazMat. A licensed fire protection engineer in California, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and Washington, DC, his career has included a diverse portfolio of complex projects throughout the Philadelphia market and across the country.
“I’ve always found the greatest value comes from getting involved early,” said Roger. “My role is to help teams identify risks at the outset and bring the technical pieces together—aligning systems, stakeholders, and strategy to support successful outcomes on complex projects.”
Before joining TERPconsulting, Roger spent two decades at EwingCole, where he most recently served as Director of Engineering. In that role, he led companywide engineering initiatives across multiple disciplines, advancing technical standards, strengthening design integration, and supporting the AE firm’s operational excellence. He worked closely with architectural leadership to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, champion design quality, and mentor the next generation of engineering leaders.
Roger shared that the decision to join TERPconsulting was both professional and personal. “TERP has been a trusted partner for many years, and I’ve watched the firm grow thoughtfully under Jim’s leadership,” he said. “The opportunity to help expand that vision on the East Coast—and to build something consequential alongside people I’ve known and respected for decades—was incredibly compelling.”
Reflecting on long-standing professional relationships, Roger added, “Jim and I first worked together in the mid-’90s on Department of Energy projects in Tennessee. The chance to collaborate again at this stage of our careers made this move especially meaningful.”
TERPconsulting founder Jim Begley heralded Roger’s addition to the firm, noting the strategic importance of the move. “Roger is a rare blend of technical depth, leadership, and humility,” said Jim. “He brings a systems-level understanding of complex projects and a collaborative approach that aligns perfectly with our culture. Expanding into Philadelphia with someone of Roger’s caliber positions us to better serve our clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic while continuing to grow with intention.”
