FIRE PROTECTION INDUSTRY VETERANS ROB SONTAG, CFPS AND WAYNE GRISWOLD, PE, CFPS SELECTED TO PRESENT AT 2026 NFPA CONFERENCE & EXPO IN LAS VEGAS

TERPconsulting is pleased to announce that Rob Sontag, CFPS, Senior Principal Fire Protection Consultant, and Wayne Griswold, PE, CFPS, Principal Fire Protection Engineer, have been selected to present at the 2026 NFPA Conference & Expo, which will be held June 22–24, 2026, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Image of presentation title "You're Going To Build That How? With both of their headshots.Their presentation, “You’re Going to Build That How?,” will be delivered on Wednesday, June 24, from 2 to 3 p.m. The session will examine the fire and life safety implications of pre-manufactured and modular construction, with a focus on code compliance, enforcement considerations, and emerging best practices for design and construction professionals, code officials, and authorities having jurisdiction.

Pre-manufactured and modular construction continues to gain momentum across the building industry and is increasingly being utilized for large-scale projects, including airports, healthcare facilities, and university housing developments. While these construction methods offer numerous benefits, such as accelerated project delivery, enhanced quality control, and reduced environmental impact, they also present unique challenges related to fire and life safety compliance.

During the presentation, Rob and Wayne will explore evolving construction methodologies and discuss opportunities to integrate code compliance throughout the design, fabrication, transportation, and installation phases of modular construction projects.

“Modular construction requires careful coordination among design professionals, code officials, manufacturers, and contractors to ensure fire and life safety systems are properly designed, installed, tested, and integrated across both factory-built modules and field-assembled connections,” explains Rob. “This presentation will provide attendees with practical guidance for evaluating and supporting modular construction projects while ensuring that critical fire and life safety features are effectively implemented and maintained.”

Wayne added, “The session will examine the key considerations code officials and project stakeholders should understand regarding prefabricated construction techniques and the associated compliance verification methods. Attendees will gain insight into applicable code requirements, material performance considerations, and the integration of fire protection systems within modular construction environments.”

The NFPA Conference & Expo is one of the fire protection industry’s premier educational events, bringing together professionals from around the world to exchange knowledge, address emerging challenges, and advance fire, electrical, and life safety practices. The selection of Rob and Wayne as presenters reflects TERPconsulting’s continued commitment to technical leadership and active participation in the development and application of fire and life safety standards.
