05 Jan JORGE VELASCO NAMED TO REGIONAL DIRECTOR POSITION, MANAGING TERPconsulting’s SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA OPERATIONS
Jorge Velasco, CET has been promoted to the position of regional director overseeing TERPconsulting’s Los Angeles office. Jorge takes over the management of TERP’s L.A. operations with a focus on expanding both the company’s client base and name recognition throughout Southern California.
“As I take on my new role, one of my primary objectives is to make sure that California knows who TERPconsulting is and what we have to offer,” Jorge said. “More specifically, my goals are to increase our local projects by getting the word out about the quality service we offer, in turn, growing our sterling reputation on the West Coast and allowing us to add to our talented team.”
With more than 30 years of experience, Jorge has worked at some of the most well-known companies in the fire protection industry, including Jensen Hughes, Schirmer Engineering/AON, Berg Electric, EST Service, and HCI Systems, Inc., all based in Los Angeles. In April 2019, Jorge joined TERPconsulting as a senior fire protection consultant.
“Jorge brings a lot of valuable experience to TERPconsulting and I look forward to watching him succeed in growing our footprint in Southern California,” Jim Begley, principal of TERPconsulting, explained. “It’s a well-deserved opportunity for him – I’m proud of him and excited about what lies in wait for him in the role.”
Level III certified by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET), Jorge’s expertise includes the design of complete and/or conceptual fire alarm systems for all types of occupancies, specification development for installation of fire alarm systems, rough and final inspections for fire alarm, smoke control, and special suppression systems. Additionally, he has experience conducting field surveys to evaluate existing fire alarm, special suppression, and smoke control systems for code compliance, and third-party testing of fire alarm, special suppression, and smoke control testing.
Jorge is a member of both the local and national chapters of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and California Automatic Fire Alarm Association (CAFAA).
