TERPconsulting’s Mark Hopkins, PE, FSFPE has been selected to present during the American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA41) Convention, Exhibition & Apprentice Competition being held October 15 – 19 at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Mark’s 90-minute seminar is titled “Corrosion Investigation Case Studies and Remediation” and will be presented on Wednesday, October 19 from 9 – 10:30 am.
“I’m very much looking forward to sharing my knowledge of corrosion issues that arise in wet pipe, dry pipe, and preaction sprinkler systems with AFSA attendees,” explained Mark of his presentation this week. “Essential discussion points that I will cover are best practices to minimize corrosion risk as well as emerging corrosion mitigation technologies.”
An expert in the field of fire sprinkler corrosion, Mark’s highly anticipated AFSA41 presentation will also include the basic framework for conducting corrosion investigations, factors for consideration in determining whether to salvage or replace a system, and possible corrosion management strategies. Additionally, his presentation will review several case studies of sprinkler system corrosion and he will discuss remedial measures applied, others considered, and new solutions available.
Upon completion of this essential seminar on the growing topic of corrosion, AFSA attendees will be able to explain the basic framework for conducting a corrosion investigation, identify the benefits and drawbacks of different corrosion remedial measures, and incorporate corrosion prevention and protection concepts in design.
The AFSA41 Convention, Exhibition & Apprentice Competition will offer four days of managerial and technical seminars filled with education, training, and networking led by industry experts. More than 50 seminars encompassing seven tracks cover all aspects of the industry: install/design, ITM, other technical, filler, NextGen, AHJ, and business management for over 70 hours of CEUs, CPDs, and Cal Fire-approved credits.
