Having completed Colorado’s licensing process, which involves education and training, industry experience, and testing, he joins TERPconsulting’s other 12 engineers who, as a group, are licensed in 44 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

“Becoming a licensed professional engineer is not just a personal milestone for me. It’s the key to unlocking a world of possibilities where innovation and expertise combine to shape a safer future,” Paul said.

Paul joined TERPconsulting’s Denver office as a fire protection consultant in 2019. His responsibilities range from design and plan review to inspections and fire protection reports. In addition to fire sprinkler design, Paul’s other specialties in the fire protection field include plan review, hazardous materials, and cannabis facilities. He has been involved in many fire safety design projects for various sites in assembly, commercial, cannabis, education, hotels and casinos, government and municipal, medical facilities, and schools.

Formerly a project manager and designer for a fire sprinkler contractor, Paul employs his fire suppression expertise in designing commercial fire sprinkler systems. He deftly coordinates their installation with multiple stakeholders, including the general contractor, owner, consultant, architect, and authority having jurisdiction (AHJs). To that end, Paul’s work on the sprinkler design for the Denver Health Outpatient Medical Center and an undisclosed electric vehicle manufacturing facility near Austin, Texas, are highlights of his fire protection career.

Paul has a level I NICET certification in water-based systems. He is an active member of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) and the Fire Marshals Association of Colorado (FMAC). Paul’s academic foundation is rooted in a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering earned from Iowa State University.
