Kate Miller, PE, has joined TERPconsulting as a senior fire protection engineer in the firm’s Denver office. With over two decades of experience in fire protection engineering, code consulting, and project oversight, Kate offers expertise in innovative fire protection solutions for diverse projects, including large-scale commercial, transportation, and multifamily facilities. She specializes in ensuring regulatory compliance while managing complex projects from inception to completion, providing expert guidance on building and fire codes, risk assessments, and the design of life safety systems.

Kate’s portfolio of past projects includes cultural institutions, airports, covered mall buildings, corporate headquarters, and luxury apartments. She is skilled in developing equivalencies and alternate method analyses that balance code compliance with project goals, ensuring designs remain on schedule and within budget. Additionally, Kate’s expertise extends to advising clients, architects, and building owners on variances, alternative compliance methods, and tailored fire protection strategies. She regularly interfaces with regulatory authorities, building officials, and fire marshals to obtain approvals and address code-related inquiries and challenges.

Before joining TERPconsulting, Kate was a Senior Project Consultant at Code Consultants Inc. (CCI), where she played a pivotal role in fire protection engineering and code compliance for high-profile projects throughout the US.
A licensed fire protection engineer in Missouri, Kate is on the Society of Fire Protection Engineers’ CPQ-PE Exam Development Committee and a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
