Las Vegas, NV
Market: Hotels & Resorts
Project Scope: Fire Protection Report, Smoke Control Inspection and Testing
The Cromwell is a standalone boutique resort on the Las Vegas Strip formerly known as Barbary Coast and before that Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall & Saloon. Highlights of the renovated and expanded property include 188 guest rooms, 19 suites, and the 65,000-square-foot Drai’s Beach Club and Nightclub. The hotel-casino also features a 40,000-square-foot casino, a redesigned lobby bar, an ultra-lounge, chef Giada de Laurentiis’s restaurant Giada, and a 368-stall, three-level parking structure. TERPconsulting was the Fire Protection Engineer of Record for the $185-million-dollar project and prepared a Fire Protection Report, Request for Alternate Method (RFAM) reports, conceptual design of fire pump system, and development of a smoke control/removal strategy for the renovated building. The 2014 remodel included a large two-story rooftop addition for Drai’s Nightclub & Beachclub that required the installation of new pressurized exit stairways. TERPconsulting also performed smoke control mechanical quality assurance agency (MQAA) inspection and testing services to confirm proper operation of smoke control and removal systems as well as outlined the liquid nitrogen fog effects protection criteria for Drai’s nightclub. A final report documenting all MQAA activities was prepared following the completion of inspections and testing for review and approval by the local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
