TERPconsulting is pleased to announce the continued expansion of its New York City office with the addition of two new key team members. Francisco Kang, EIT joins TERPconsulting as a fire protection consultant and Marisa Matura has come on board as an accessibility technician.

“We are very pleased to bring the skills and talent of the caliber of Francisco and Marisa to our growing New York City team,” says Joe Plati, regional director and senior fire protection engineer at TERPconsulting. “Francisco’s fire modeling experience and Marisa’s accessibility skill set provide a great addition to the services we offer our A|E|C partners.”

With a specialty in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) fire modeling, Francisco brings his experience in code consulting, fire, and egress modeling to TERPconsulting. Specifically, his experience includes analysis in the areas of atrium smoke control system design using CFD, stair and elevator pressurization system design using CONTAM, structural fire modeling using CFD, and egress modeling using Pathfinder performed across multiple jurisdictions that include Southern California, Pacific Northwest, and New York City markets.

Prior to joining TERPconsulting, Francisco managed performance-based design and fire, smoke, and egress modeling projects on the West Coast for high-profile projects in residential, business, and assembly occupancies. Cisco has a master’s degree in fire protection engineering and a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, both from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Marisa has leveraged her experience in construction project management, including working for a general contractor and an HVAC contractor, to bring her knowledge in the technical areas of construction design and architecture to TERPconsulting’s accessibility team.

In her role as an accessibility technician, Marisa conducts accessibility assessment field surveys, inspections, and analysis; performs accessibility drawing and design reviews, and existing building audits; and provides technical assistance and consulting during project development, design, and construction. Building on her proficiency in reviewing drawings with lead architect and engineering teams, and applying that expertise to the highly specialized regulations, building codes, and standards necessary to a facility’s accessibility requirements, Marisa has been a welcome addition to TERPconsulting’s NYC team.

Marisa was previously a project manager for Holt Construction and Orion Mechanical Systems, Inc. A graduate of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Marisa has her Bachelor of Science in sociology and a minor in psychology.
