Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) engaged TERPconsulting to evaluate the existing fire suppression system for the Fine and Rare Book Room located in one of the Carnegie Mellon libraries. TERPconsulting conducted a site assessment to evaluate the condition of the existing fire suppression system in addition to evaluating the system’s compliance with applicable codes and standards. The conditions of the sprinkler protection, enclosure integrity, fire suppression system equipment, tanks, piping, releasing panel, fire alarm control unit, detection, and notification for the Fine and Rare Books Room and the surrounding areas were also evaluated. TERPconsulting reviewed CMU’s fire protection and salvage plan for the Fine and Rare Books Room as well as prepared a report of its findings.
